Healing Prayers for Mother's Day: Part 3 - Finding Comfort and Strength Through Grief

As we continue the countdown to Mother’s Day, my heart is with you. I know that this time of year brings mixed emotions—while others are preparing to celebrate the joys of motherhood, you are navigating a journey of deep sorrow and loss. The heaviness of grief is not something that can be easily understood by those who haven’t walked this path, but you’re not alone in your heartache.

During these next days, as we reflect on healing prayers and the promises God has given us, I want to offer my deepest empathy and support. I know that, even in the midst of pain, God’s Word provides comfort, peace, and hope. His promises remain true, and He is close to the brokenhearted. May these scriptures and prayers bring healing to your heart as we draw nearer to Mother's Day.

Day 15: Peace – Trusting in God's Peace

Grief can feel like a storm inside you, stirring up confusion, anxiety, and restlessness. Yet, in the middle of all this chaos, God promises to give us peace—not as the world gives, but a peace that transcends our understanding.

John 14:27 (NKJV) reminds us: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” I know it’s hard to feel peace right now, especially when your heart is heavy and your spirit feels torn. But God is offering you His peace, a peace that can quiet your soul and calm your restless heart. It’s not always easy to feel, but it’s there, and it’s waiting for you to receive it.

Prayer for Peace:
Father, my soul longs for peace in this chaotic grief. I trust in Your Word and Your promise to give me peace. Please quiet my heart, Lord, and remind me that Your peace is available to me, even in the midst of pain. Let me feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Day 16: Quietness – Resting in God’s Presence

Sometimes, in the midst of grief, the noise of emotions, thoughts, and memories can become overwhelming. You might feel like you can’t catch your breath, as your heart constantly races with thoughts of your loss. But God calls us to stillness, to a place where we can rest in His presence and know that He is God.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” In the silence of your grief, God is inviting you to rest in Him. He doesn’t expect you to have all the answers or to make sense of everything right now. What He asks is that you simply stop and be still, so He can soothe your soul and give you rest. Take a moment today to be still before Him, to let go of the constant striving, and to allow His quiet presence to comfort you.

Prayer for Quietness:
Lord, I need Your quietness to soothe my soul. Help me to find rest in You, even when my heart is restless. Please quiet my mind and allow me to be still, knowing that You are God and You are with me in my grief.

Day 17: Rest – Finding Comfort in God's Care

You may feel so weary from this journey—physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted. The pain of grief is draining, and it may feel like you can’t go on another day. But God promises to give us rest. He invites us to bring our burdens to Him, to lay them down at His feet, and to find rest in His care.

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” This is a gentle invitation from Jesus, who knows your weariness and your pain. When you feel too tired to take another step, remember that He is offering you rest—rest for your soul, rest for your heart, rest for your mind. You don’t have to carry this alone. Lean on Him and let His rest renew your spirit.

Prayer for Rest:
Father, I am weary, and I need rest. Please help me to come to You, to find comfort in Your arms, and to rest in Your love. Give me the strength to continue this journey and help me to find peace and refreshment in You.

Day 18: Strength – Trusting God for Renewal

There may be moments when you feel so weak, so worn out, that you wonder if you have anything left to give. Grief takes so much from us—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and it’s easy to feel like you’ve hit a breaking point. But God promises to renew our strength.

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” God knows you feel exhausted. He knows how much you’ve been carrying. And He promises to renew your strength as you trust in Him. Even when you feel weak, He is at work, lifting you up and empowering you to keep going.

Prayer for Strength:
Lord, I feel weak and exhausted. But I trust in Your promise to renew my strength. Please give me the strength I need to continue this journey. Help me to wait on You and to lean on Your power to carry me through. Renew my spirit, Lord, and give me the courage to move forward.

Day 19: Trust – Surrendering to God’s Plan

Grief can stir up feelings of doubt and uncertainty, and it’s hard to trust in God’s plan when it feels like everything has been torn apart. But even in your pain, God is asking you to trust Him—to believe that He has a good plan for your life, even if you can’t see it right now.

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” It’s so difficult to trust when the path ahead feels unclear, but God is faithful, and He promises that His plans are good. In this season, it’s okay to feel the pain and the doubt, but I encourage you to surrender that pain to Him, trusting that He is working for your good.

Prayer for Trust:
God, it’s hard to trust You right now, but I know that Your plans are good. Please help me to surrender my pain and trust You fully. I trust that You are working in my life, even when I can’t see it. Help me to lean not on my own understanding, but to trust in Your perfect plan.

Day 20: Uncertainty – Resting in God’s Certainty

Grief brings with it a sense of uncertainty about the future. You may feel like the ground beneath you is shifting, and you can’t quite find your footing. But in the midst of all the uncertainty, God’s promises are unshakeable. He knows the plans He has for you, and He is leading you, even when the road ahead seems unclear.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” You may not know what the future holds, but God does. He has a good plan for you, and you can rest in the certainty of His promise, even when the path is uncertain.

Prayer for Uncertainty:
Father, I am uncertain of what the future holds, but I trust in Your promises. I know You have plans for me, plans for peace and hope. Please help me to rest in the certainty of Your plan, even when it feels unclear.

Day 21: Vulnerability – Leaning into God’s Embrace

Grief has a way of making us feel exposed and vulnerable. It’s easy to want to hide our pain, to protect ourselves from feeling too much. But God invites us to bring our vulnerability to Him, to lean into His embrace, and to allow Him to heal our broken hearts.

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” In your vulnerability, God is close. He sees your pain, and He promises to be near to you. You don’t have to hide your feelings from Him. He knows you fully, and He loves you deeply.

Prayer for Vulnerability:
Lord, I feel so vulnerable in my grief. Help me to remember that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit. I trust You with my pain and my vulnerability, and I ask that You help me to lean into You and find comfort in Your love.

Continuing to Walk Together

As we near Mother’s Day, I pray that these prayers and scriptures bring healing and comfort to your heart. Grief can be a long, lonely journey, but God is with you every step of the way. He sees your pain, He knows your heartache, and He is faithful to renew your strength. Lean into Him, trust His promises, and allow His peace to surround you. You are not alone, and God is with you—today, tomorrow, and always.

May His comfort fill your heart this Mother’s Day and always.

Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” This has been so true for me, sometimes its not until you look back over all that the Lord has done do I really appreciate this passage. I have been through a lot in life and as I look back I see how the Lord gave me strength in the mist of those hard times. Thank you God for empowering us on our weakness.

I love the post on “quietness”. Oftentimes, I escape from difficult things by burying myself in work and doing something. Keeping myself busy has been a crutch for me. But as I read the post I started to rest in God’s presence and stop hiding from the things that make me ashamed, afraid, sad and hopeless. God is bigger than all the feelings I feel trapped in and by being in His presence I can overcome them.
